Ex-Controller Edward M. Grout, one time law partner of ex-Mayor William J. Gaynor, was the only witness examined by the Thompson Legislative Committee when it resumed its hearings in the Municipal Building yesterday. Mr. Grout was questioned at length regarding his services to the Interborough during the subway negotiations of 1911, for which he asked $25,000 and was paid $17,500. More : query.nytimes.com |
