Cry me a river

A few days ago, I heard Julie London singing that great pop hit “Cry Me a River.” It reminded me of the accounting profession today. Actually, the profession has been this way for several years now - well before the recession. The moaning has become a chorus: Business is awful. Amid the moans, however, a phenomenal, fast-growing opportunity for the accounting profession is almost completely ignored. Not only that, but we are uniquely equipped to serve this market; the field is virtually limitless, competition can only increase our potential involvement; the work can be done off-season; collection problems are minimal; the interesting nature of the work can help us retain our better young staff people; the compensation compares favorably with our existing fee structures; and it’s even socially useful! Furthermore, it can have a positive impact on several important internal problems within our firms and the profession, such as client fee disputes, employer/employee controversies, partner disputes and malpractice insurance premiums Source : accessmylibrary.com |
