THE newspaper reports of the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States promulgated on Dec. 4, 1899, in the case of Bolles vs. Outing, did not indicate the grave import of the rulings announced in the case. The matter is very much more serious than appears on the surface, and the decision only serves to emphasize the hopelessly chaotic condition in which our copyright law at present exists.
